McCain's Veritech Encyclopedia:

VF-2 Vindicator Heavy Veritech Fighter

When the first invasion force of Invid attacked they made total mincemeat of the older Veritechs in use at the time, the only thing that kept them from totally overrunning the RF forces was the timely intervention of the Sentinels and Karbarran Forces.

The first VF-1V Vindicators hit the first Marine units in 2121 but not enough were in service at the timeof the invasion to be of much use to any of the forces by 2130 with the introduction of the VF-1VA1 several thousand units had been produced and were in service with the further massed protection the Marine Pilots were able to hold their own against the Newer Invid Mecha.

In 2131 another model was produced until 2135 when the newer VF-2 Vindicators entered wider service, with a larger missile payload and heavier energy weapons it was more capable of kicking the Invid out of the various systems that they had invaded in their new quest of conquest, also from 2137 to 2140 two experimental models were designed but soon dropped due to the high cost of manufacture and the further fact that they didn't perform any better than the VF-2s.

The Vindicator in design concept is basically a larger Alpha fighter with heavier armor a larger missile payload and now two EP-4 particle cannons installed above the hands in battloid mode.

Basically the Vindicator is

The Vindicator is the RF Mairne Corps answer to the Heavier Invid mecha that seems to be popping up more and more frequently of late.

Weapons Systems:

1 x EU-13 Destabilizer, sub-nuclear particle beam gun with output of 10 MJ, can fire up to 30 times/minute. Draws power from its own dedicated protoculture canister, but can by fired using the plane's own power. Particles have specific, disrupting effect on force fields, and will short out a low power field completely, while high power fields may temporarily and locally cease to function.

2 x EP-4 single-barreled particle cannon, capable of firing 9 MJ of particle energy every second, and is powered by the aircraft's energizers.

1 x MM-70 multi-missile system, contains 70 Makos total.

2 x MM-20 multi-missile systems, contains 40 Makos total.

Electonics:

Unknown.

Armor:

Armor is made of lowmass composite-materials chobham plating.
